Over the next couple of months, CTEK connection plans to introduce a fantastic new project. It plans to offer UK secondary school students from underprivileged and limited backgrounds a chance to join in on our extra curricula tutoring programs.
PROJECT PROPOSAL
We will be offering placement to a select group of students and giving them opportunities for a chance to learn skills in graphics design and IT related courses. Our training courses will be in conjunction with the school's national curriculum requirements and will present students with the opportunity to qualify for certification upon successful course completion.
TEACHING AUTISTIC CHILDREN
Our project is aimed especially to help Autistic children. There are many educational methods that can be used in teaching Autistic children. Some methods are better than others, but different methods work for different children. One of the hardest factors in teaching these children is that each child has a different level or severity of autism and that can make it quite difficult to teach an affected child. Furthermore, autism can come with other physical or mental handicaps that can make teaching these children even more challenging.
Nevertheless, nothing is impossible and through time, we as human beings learn to adapt. Of course, for parents who have had children that are normal, the need to adapt would be quite a bit more with an autistic child. Autistic children tend to be considered less adaptive, and they are prone to repetition, it is up to the parents to adapt to them. Considering this, it is another challenge to find methods of teaching that would assist your autistic child with the more difficult academic skills.
We will provide a safe and welcome environment. For students wishing to acquire additional computing skills where tutoring in some subjects is not readily available within mainstream curriculum, we will fill that gap.
RAISING FUNDS
Funding for the project will initially be from government-allotted student grants and from charitable sources. However, in the latest political regime, this funding may prove difficult to obtain, thus making our primary goal more difficult to achieve. The goal is to provide a secure senvironment for students with tutors, equipment and workshops. We beseech you and will appreciate any donations from the general public. Every penny makes a difference. To participate and donate, please see below for donation instructions.
HOW CAN I HELP?
We are looking for all types of computer equipment, desktop. Any computer related equipment you can donate that can be refurbished and used as valuable resource tools for the students is greatly needed and appreciated. Your donations will afford otherwise unavailable opportunities for our young, eager, underprivileged and autistic students.
LOCATIONS
The learning centres are yet to be announced, but initially , we will place workshops within the London and Essex areas. We are looking for the right kind of building and workshop space and need to hear from anyone with access to information about suitable premises.
